Fields of intervention of the institution and its past experience in trans-national co-operation actions

IT frameworks, GIS and data base development. Hydrology, meteorology, water resources monitoring and modelling, real time forecasting, sediment transport. Training Education.

Partner of a number of successfully completed EU funded projects or ongoing projects in the field of water resources and IT frameworks.

Project coordinator in national funded research projects and projects with accession countries (i.e. Cyprus ).


Specific role of the partner in the implementation and management of the project


This partner will contribute to the reconstruction of the hydrological cycle in the CADSES Region on a GIS frame, to the identification of the appropriate methodologies for the awareness and the Management of Natural risks and to the analysis of the water resources management of the Ionia Islands under extreme situations (flood and drought events)

Training courses for technical personnel will be organized on hydrology, on awareness as well as on the Natural Risks Management.

This partner will undertake the scientific role for the administration of PP7 regarding the purchase, installation and operation of the Telemetering hydro-meteorological stations and the monitor of extreme events in real time.

Finally, the partner will contribute to the development of a common and homogeneous data - base for the CADSES area and to the planning of possible extensions of the project to other European areas.

Why is this partner essential for the success of the project?

This partner has great experience in the frame of water resources. Without any doubt this partner is essential for the success of the project due to his actions in the context of HYDROCARE, which are mainly concerning the awareness and the water Management of Natural Risks in the Ionian Islands .

Furthermore this partner will contribute to the planning of possible extensions of the project to other European areas.
